BET Hip Hop Awards 2023 to Celebrate So So Def’s 30th Anniversary

In a thrilling announcement, BET unveiled its plans for the upcoming “BET Hip Hop Awards” 2023, promising a star-studded celebration of the 30th anniversary of the iconic record label, So So Def. The event will be marked by a mesmerizing performance featuring the multifaceted talent of GRAMMY®-Award-winning producer, songwriter, hip-hop artist, author, and DJ, Jermaine Dupri, alongside a constellation of hip-hop luminaries, including Bone Crusher, Bow Wow, Da Brat, Dem Franchize Boyz, Ludacris, and more.

The annual awards show will be hosted by none other than the acclaimed GRAMMY®-nominated recording artist, actor, entrepreneur, and media personality Fat Joe. Mark your calendars for the grand premiere on Tuesday, October 10, 2023, at 9:00 PM ET/PT.

To add to the excitement, Jermaine Dupri, a true trailblazer in the hip-hop industry, is not only set to light up the stage but has also graced fans with a brand new single and music video, “Pick It Up” (feat. Jacquees), which is available now. This dynamic track serves as the first glimpse into Dupri’s forthcoming EP, scheduled for release via Mass Appeal. What sets this project apart is Dupri’s collaboration with artists he has not previously worked with, promising a fresh and innovative soundscape.

Pick It Up” (feat. Jacquees) showcases Dupri’s mastery, boasting a head-nodding soundscape brought to life by sizzling hi-hats and commanding bass kicks. Jacquees adds to the energy with an anthemic hook, belting out, “Call me and I come through, and I put it down, what you gon’ do?” Dupri follows with an incendiary verse, delivered in his instantly-recognizable signature style. The music video, a cinematic creation directed by Diesel Films, transports viewers to an arcade where Dupri and Jacquees take center stage, bringing forth a whirlwind of dance moves, stylish ensembles, and vintage automobiles.

This recent release follows Jermaine Dupri’s earlier collaboration this year with New Orleans-based rapper and founder of Jet Life Recordings, Curren$y, resulting in their highly anticipated EP, “For Motivational Use Only.”

As the “BET Hip Hop Awards” gears up for its 2023 edition, anticipation builds for an unforgettable evening celebrating the illustrious journey of So So Def and the genre-defining talents that have shaped the hip-hop landscape for three decades.
