The Harlem Arts Stroll relaunches the second week of September with two editions: a Thursday After-Work Edition from 5pm to 8pm and a Saturday Edition from 1pm to 6pm featuring 9 Harlem Galleries and 2 coffee shops featuring as well as a special mural stop featuring the work of Paul Deo, all sponsored by Harlem based and businesses and nonprofits. The Stroll conceived by Atim Annette Oton, Director and Curator of Calabar Gallery, first launched in 2017 as an innovative collaboration of galleries, art spaces and businesses focused on bringing visitors to Harlem and residents to see art in their neighborhood. The relaunch, according to Oton, is to "show the diversity of galleries and art in Harlem, bring people back to all these businesses, increase foot traffic lost from Covid-19 and most importantly, remind people that Harlem is an art destination."
Twenty-one businesses and organizations are participating in the relaunch. For Sandra Alexis Heath, “The Harlem Arts Stroll is a great way to introduce art lovers to several “best kept secret” cultural gems that make up Harlem’s vibrant art scene. Heath Gallery is participating to increase awareness that we’re here.” And Reginald Rousseau of Underground Gallery, “as an Artist and a Creative Entrepreneur, [Underground Gallery + Studio] through participating in the Harlem Arts Stroll. I hope to; Join the artistic community in unifying and enriching the Harlem community; and to Expose my artworks to a wider audience.
