Association of Performing Arts Presenters Seeks Proposals for Projects to Increase Awareness of Muslim Cultures

The Building Bridges: Campus Community Engagement program, an initiative of the Association of Performing Arts Presenters, is accepting proposals from performing arts presenting organizations based in the United States for projects designed to increase awareness of Muslim cultures.
Grants ranging between $100,000 and $200,000 will support projects that expand awareness, knowledge, and understanding of Muslim societies. Eligible applicants are performing arts presenting organizations (within or collaborating with colleges or universities) interested in building interdisciplinary cross-campus and campus-community partnerships. Grantees are expected to work with campus-based and external community partners in order to engage targeted populations, with a primary focus on young people born after 1980.
In addition, projects must demonstrate discernible change in knowledge and attitudes about contemporary Muslim culture in communities where there has been limited exposure to Muslim culture or where opportunities exist to strengthen and expand existing partnerships and resources.
While applicants are not required to be current APAP members, any applicant invited to submit a full application must become a member.
See the APAP Web site for eligibility and application guidelines. The deadline to apply is April 24, 2013.
