Skin color in the Global African community is a major issue that has plagued us for too many years. As a mother of a dark skinned child, I am learning about about twisted both African and European view of beauty and worth can really be and how it affects one’s psyche. I have spent a few years healing my daughters heart after a young white boy told her no one would marry here because she was dark. Bill Duke newest project ” Dark Girls” tackles this issue head on with heart breaking stories and a triumphant outlook. Recently, The Grio sat down Mr. Duke to interview him on the project.
