Sugarcane Magazine sends it’s condolences to the family, friends label and fans of the iconic ” Barefoot Diva” Cesaria Evora. Ms. Evora was a singer from the African country Cape Verde island. She sang primarily in her native creole and taught the world about a style of music called morna ( a style native to Cape Verde) . She became an international hit after being nominated for a Grammy in 1995. She leaves behind a rich legacy that will never be forgotten. Below is a favorite of mind and one of her classics Sodade.
