To commemorate this globally significant year, organizations all over the world are hosting lectures, festivals and film screenings in the name of all that is great and African. IPAD ( International Year of People of African Descent ) Caribbean is one of those organizations. On November 22, 2011 at the University of Miami in Miami, Florida, IPAD Caribbean is presenting Dr. Verene Shepard, author Dr. Edmond Abaka and others for ” Harnessing African American Studies for Economic Empowerment: Uniting the African Family for Development” The lecture takes place at 5:00 PM at the CAS/Wesley Foundation Gallery at 1210 Stanford Drive in Miami.
