Where to find Black art galleries- A guide
Sugarcane Magazine could not be the platform for Black art and culture without a list of Black owned galleries. This evolving guide of Black-owned art galleries spans the Americas and the rest of the world, allowing you to find and purchase your Black art both nearby and in your travels. Such a list is never complete. We continually build it as we discover new locations at different hotels, stand-alone galleries, and other venues. However, this list is our most updated, including everything we know that exists as of February 2023.
If your favorite gallery is not listed, please send us a message, and we will be sure to add it to the list. If your gallery is listed, but you have closed, moved, or gone virtual, please email us, and we will make that change. I hope this list encourages both collectors and institutions to seek out and purchase great works from Black-owned galleries in their city or beyond. And most importantly, I hope this list helps to make art buying more equitable.
