Florida Memorial University’s School of Art and Sciences in partnership with CADA Conversations present the Sixth Annual Art Basel Panel Discussion on Contemporary African Diaspora Art. The panel, moderated by Curator and CADA Managing Director Ludlow Bailey, will meet on Sunday December 6, 2015 from 12:00 pm-3:00 pm at The Nathan W. Collier Library at Florida Memorial University/15800 NW 42nd Avenue Miami Gardens, FL 33054. There will be a meet and greet reception from 12:00pm-12:45pm.
The 2015 panel will include Ethiopian based curator, Dr. Desta Meghoo, Nigerian artist and curator, Dr. Ugochukwu Smooth Nwezi, Hood Museum, Dartmouth College, African-American artist, Bernard Williams and cultural writer, Julie Walker from The Root.com.
This year’s panel will focus on the theme, “Black Art Matters.” Ludlow Bailey plans to moderate a lively and interactive conversation about why Black Art Matters in a world that continues to marginalize and undervalue African Diaspora visual creativity.
