February is Black History month in the United States. The country is alive and vibrant because of the cultural activities and broadcast programming. This Month, we will feature African American Artists that have blazed a trail for current artists today.
First up is the prodigious James P. Johnson, Pianist and Composer. Mr. Johnson was the inventor of the Stride Piano and influenced Fats Waller as well as Duke Ellington. The sheet music from his compositions was discovered some time ago and National Public Radio in the United States did a segment on his work. This recording gives a such a great overview of his art, we decided to share it.
