Sugarcane remembers Ethiopian writer and pioneer Sebhat Gebre-Egziabher. Sebhat Gebre-Egziabher was a flambyant writer that was known for championing a more naturalistic style of writing in Amharic. He had a large following for his newspaper columns and his interest in French literature led to him living in Paris and writing a novel Letoom Aynegalign in French and English.
