Art Basel’s Miami Beach Show Appoints Bridget Finn as Director, Ushering in a New Era of Innovation and Growth

Art Basel, the premier Modern and contemporary art fair in the Americas, officially announced the appointment of Bridget Finn as the new Director of their prestigious Miami Beach show. This strategic move aims to drive the fair’s direction and foster innovation while expanding Art Basel’s network of galleries, collectors, and artists across the Americas.

Finn, a seasoned expert in the gallery ecosystem, brings a wealth of experience to the role. Having previously directed the contemporary art program at Mitchell-Innes & Nash and held positions at Anton Kern Gallery and Independent Curators International (ICI), she possesses an intimate understanding of the North and South American art markets.

Moreover, Finn’s impressive accomplishments extend beyond her work with galleries. As a Detroit native, she co-founded Art Mile Detroit, a city-wide exhibition platform supporting local galleries, museums, and artist-run spaces. In 2022, she established FLOURISH, a platform dedicated to leveraging art for positive transformations for children affected by rare diseases. Her extensive network and dedication to the art community make her an ideal fit for Art Basel’s mission and strategic vision.

Noah Horowitz, CEO of Art Basel, expressed excitement about Bridget’s appointment, emphasizing her commitment to promoting the artworld ecosystem and local art scenes. Vincenzo de Bellis, Director of Fairs and Exhibition Platforms, also praised Finn’s appointment, acknowledging her leadership experience and extensive network of collectors, galleries, artists, and cultural partners.

Bridget Finn herself expressed deep honor in assuming the role of Director for Art Basel Miami Beach, a landmark fair and cultural experience that has shaped the creative community for over 20 years. She looks forward to collaborating with galleries, patrons, and partners, aiming to propel the show to new heights of artistic excellence and profound impact.

Finn’s directorship will officially begin in September 2023, and she will be based in New York, reporting to Vincenzo de Bellis. Art Basel’s Miami Beach show in 2024 will be under her leadership, but she will also attend the 2023 edition in December to prepare for her role.

As Art Basel welcomes Bridget Finn, they continue to fortify their position as a global platform for the dialogue and discovery of new artistic practices and perspectives from the Americas. Finn’s appointment marks a pivotal moment in the fair’s history, signaling an exciting new era of growth and innovation. Art enthusiasts can eagerly anticipate the impact of her leadership on the renowned Miami Beach edition.
