The Betsy Hotel is pleased to present pianist Edgar Pantoja as a solo artist on April 7, 20, 24th as part of their 10th Annual Overture to Overtown Festival celebrating Jazz Appreciation Month. Pantoja will be performing from 6:00 pm – 11pm in the hotel’s jazz performance space situated at a Steinway grand inside the lobby. The hotel is located at 1440 Ocean Drive. In addition, on April 24, 2022 at 5:00 pm we present The Edgar Pantoja Trio featuring Magela Herera on flute and vocals in partnership with the City of Miami Beach and Ocean Drive Association. The Betsy has scheduled a 5-concert lineup, for the Ocean Drive Promenade concert series, all free of charge, open to the public. Concerts will be held on Ocean Drive Promenade, between 14th Street and 14th Place.Jazz Appreciation Month (“JAM”) was created in 2001 at the Smithsonian National Museum of American History to recognize and celebrate the extraordinary heritage and history of jazz. On April 30th we join with others in celebrating International Jazz Day. In November 2011, the UN Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) officially designated April 30 as International Jazz Day to highlight jazz and its diplomatic role in uniting people in all corners of the globe.The Betsy’s Jazz program is the longest continually running series of its kind in the region, featuring live performances 9 times a week – from 6 to 11 PM nightly, and from 11 AM to 4 PM Saturday and Sunday with performers that define the diversity of the jazz piano genre broadly, from traditional to fusion to multicultural and experimental that highlight Miami as an important global jazz center both historically and currently, through programs that highlight Miami’s wonderful diversity of communities and musical styles.
