This fall, the French Institute Alliance Française (FIAF), New York’s premiere French cultural center, invites kids of all ages and their families to two new editions of its popular Family Saturdays, with a thrilling musical performance, inspiring workshops, spellbinding storytelling, an uproarious film screening, and more.
On Saturday, December 5th , FIAF is thrilled to welcome Grammy-nominated French duo Hélène and Célia Faussart of Les Nubians for a special live concert created just for kids. The two sisters will lead children on a sonic adventure through the rhythms and melodies of Africa, exploring their influence on musical traditions from jazz to urban, Afro-European, and R&B. The journey continues with mesmerizing performer Tammy Hall, who comes to FIAF for an afternoon of captivating tales spanning the French-speaking cultures of Haiti, Algeria, Madagascar, and more. Children will join in on percussive instruments, through songs and chants, as they bridge the gaps between cultures and celebrate the power of storytelling.

Between events, be sure to visit the Haskell Library’s vibrant Kids’ Corner to discover French books, comics, and magazines for all age levels. Stop by the lobby to buy French and English children’s books and delicious snacks. Nespresso will give free coffee to parents.

Held several times throughout the year, FIAF’s Family Saturdays programs are created with specific age levels in mind, yet are also enjoyable for parents. Family Saturdays are open to both FIAF Members and Non-Members, French and non-French speakers alike. FIAF Members save on all Family Saturdays events. Reserve your place today and enjoy all the fun and educational opportunities en français that Family Saturdays has to offer.
