Gallery Visit: Griot Art Gallery Presents ” In the Sprit of Collaboration: Sam Gilliam and Lou Stovall”

Griot Art Gallery in partnership with MoCAAD Miami (Miami Museum of Contemporary Art of the African Diaspora) and the Center for Haitian Studies exhibits work from Sam Gilliam and Lou Stovall.
Sam Gilliam is known for Abstract expressionism and Lyrical Abstraction. He is associated with the Washington Color School, a form of abstract art developed in the 1950’s and 60’s.

Lou Stovall is a printmaker and artist who is also credited with building and exciting artist community in Washington D.C.

Lou Stovall is a graduate of Howard University and his work is not only renowned on the market, but his desire to build community lead to his starting Workshop,inc., a studio dedicated to creating community posters.
