Bamako Encounters: Call for Applications 2017

Organised by the Malian Ministry of Culture and Institut français, the Bamako Encounters is the first and principal international platform dedicated to contemporary photography and new images in Africa. A sustainable platform for discovery, exchanges and interaction, the Bamako Encounters are known as a meeting place for African photographers and other art professionals from across the world. The 11th Edition of the Bamako Encounters will take place from December 2, 2017 to January 31, 2018, with professional days from 2 to 5 December 2017.
The Executive Director of the Bamako Encounters is Samuel Sidibe, Director of the National Museum of Mali.
Marie-Ann Yemsi, cultural consultant and independent curator is the Curator of the 11th Edition of the Bamako Encounters.
The Pan-African exhibition, curated by Marie-Ann Yemsi, will take place at the National Museum of Mali. This exhibition is at the heart of the Biennale entitled “Afrotopia”.
